GIRLS DEVELOPMENT
The Oregon State Hockey Association supports the growth and development of female hockey players. As such, we encourage associations across Oregon to develop programming that supports female athletes and welcomes them into the sport.

NEW! Statewide Girls EVENT — IN BEND!
When: April 1, 2023
Where: The Pavilion in Bend Time: 10:00am-2:00pm Cost: FREE Please join us for the 3rd statewide girls hockey expo! This is a super fun, all-girls event to learn about the joy and thrill of ice hockey! Visit with coaches and other female players. Try on the gear. Pair up with an adult female mentor. Hit the ice in a safe environment! |
GIRLS TIERED HOCKEY
In Oregon, starting with the 2021-2022 season, all tiered hockey for girls will be organized at the affiliate level. This move creates a clear pathway for girls who want to compete at a higher level. In addition, this brings girls from across Oregon together as "Team Oregon" who will practice and play across the state, showcasing the sport for aspiring female athletes. Learn more
GIRLS HOCKEY AMBASSADOR PROGRAM
Starting with the 2021-2022 season, OSHA will be hosting an ambassador program for the state's female players. The objective of this program is to create leadership opportunities for female players while at the same time increasing the number of girls playing in local associations.
Ambassadors will travel to different Oregon association locations during the course of the season to help with skills clinics, Try Hockey for Free events, demonstrations for girls youth groups, demonstrations in classrooms, etc. with the intention of recruiting more female players in our state. Travel requirements will be balanced with team obligations.

The September 15th application deadline for the 2021-2022 season has now passed. Applications are being reviewed and selections will be made by October 1, 2021. We invite players to consider applying next season if this is of interest.

- Creates a system for the girls to give back and be mentors
- Helps increase the numbers of girls in local programs
- Provides experience for girls and their college applications
- Provides experience for the girls’ hockey resumes
Applicant Qualifications:
- Must be a player in good standing with their home association
- Must be 12U or older
- Must play for an Oregon-based youth hockey program for the 2021-2022 season
- Must be able to commit to two (2) events over the course of the season
- Must have reliable transportation to ambassador events
- Must have access to Zoom in order to attend occasional ambassador meetings/workshops
