6/25/24 UPDATE on Team Oregon Girls for the 2024-2025 Season:
To all the Team Oregon families,
At this time, we have decided to put a Team Oregon girls team on hold for now as we enter the 2024-2025 season. There are many factors that went into this decision, most of which were out of the control of OSHA and those involved. This was a difficult decision to make but rest assured OSHA and all associations in Oregon are 100% committed to girls hockey at a local and state level. Our Team Oregon and Girls Hockey OSHA committees will continue to drive engagement and competition for girls hockey in the state.
As of right now, OSHA has made the decision to allow the Portland Junior Winterhawks to field a 16U Girls team, level of play yet to be determined. This is not Team Oregon, but is an opportunity for girls to practice and play together at an appropriate competition level. What that means for girls that are wanting to play with their home association is that they will continue to be able to dual-roster as stated in the OSHA Guidebook.
As the season approaches we will reevaluate as needed and make further decisions to keep girls hockey strong in Oregon. OSHA is committed to working closely with PJW over the summer to increase opportunities for more girls to play hockey. Keep an eye on our website and Instagram for any updates!
